About this position
You close deals. They make bank. Something's upside down here.
Most BDR job listings promise the world and slap you with unattainable quotas. This one's different, and here's why.
We're not looking for someone to hit arbitrary metrics or follow a dusty playbook. We're looking for a future business leader who happens to be starting as our BDR.
The honest pitch:
At Markster, we're entrepreneurs helping B2B service businesses replace failed sales hires with AI agents supervised by human experts. We practice what we preach, and our BDR role reflects that philosophy.
Most business development roles look like:
• Following up on marketing leads with generic pitches
• Reading from talk tracks that sound like everyone else
• Focusing on meeting quotas over building relationships
• Endless status updates to managers who don't understand modern buyers
Your role with us will look like:
• Partnering with agency founders to understand their growth challenges
• Using AI and digital tools to work smarter and more effectively
• Building relationships that become partnerships, not just transactions
• Becoming a trusted advisor who happens to close deals for AI sales solutions
Imagine this is your Tuesday:
It's 9 AM. You're on LinkedIn, and you've already connected with more decision-makers before your first coffee than most people manage in a week. By 10:30, you're jumping on a video call with a marketing agency founder who's tired of carrying sales on his back and wants to hear about AI agents with human oversight. Lunch? You're following up with that consulting firm CEO who mentioned they're ready to replace their underperforming sales rep. Your afternoon is spent nurturing relationships—crafting personalized outreach to prospects who need predictable revenue, not feast-or-famine cycles. At 4 PM, you're closing a deal with an agency owner who finally found an alternative to expensive sales hires that don't work out. You wrap up satisfied, knowing you've moved real relationships forward and solved actual business problems.
This isn't your jam if:
- You prefer rigid structures over entrepreneurial environments
- You see sales as a series of transactions, not relationships
- You're looking for a traditional employee role with benefits
- You're not interested in constantly learning and adapting
What we're looking for:
- 2-3+ years of B2B business development experience
- Track record of building relationships that convert to business
- Comfort with digital tools and interest in AI-augmented workflows
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent English communication skills (additional languages are a plus)
- 1-2+ years in sales development (any industry, but B2B tech is a plus)
What we're offering:
- A seat at the table with entrepreneurs and business builders
- Remote-first, async-friendly work environment (US time zones)
- $1,000/month base + uncapped bonuses + commission (OTE: $12,000+ per month)
- 1099 contractor arrangement (you handle your own taxes and benefits)
- Profit-sharing for high performers who help us reach 100,000 businesses
- Quarterly team retreats (we fly you in)
- Access to cutting-edge AI tools and experimental budgets
- Clear path to advisory and partnership opportunities
The question is:
Do you want to spend the next few years hitting arbitrary activity targets, or do you want to build real business relationships while growing alongside entrepreneurs who've actually been there and done that?
If it's the latter, we should talk.
Requirements:
- 2-3+ years of B2B business development or sales experience
- Proven track record of building relationships that convert to revenue
- Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal
- Comfort with technology and eagerness to learn AI tools
- Strategic thinking and consultative selling approach
- Self-motivated and thrives in remote work environment
- US-based (any time zone, most team collaboration happens EST business hours)
- Comfortable with 1099 contractor status (handling own taxes/benefits)
- Genuine interest in helping service businesses solve sales challenges
How can I apply?
Ready to build relationships that actually matter while closing deals that solve real problems?
Send us your resume and a 2-minute video telling us three things:
- What you're looking for in your next role – what you *want*, and what you *don't*
- Why we'd be making a mistake *not* to hire you
- What you consider your biggest achievement
We'll get back to every qualified applicant within 72 hours. No black holes, no endless waiting.
This role will challenge you. You'll learn more about relationship-building and consultative selling in 6 months than most BDRs learn in 2 years. Some days will be tough. But you'll never be bored, you'll never stop growing, and you'll never be just "another BDR."
Is that what you're looking for?
